Recently, there were rumors that another super typhoon called “AGATON” will hit Philippines. According to the report, this Typhoon is much stronger that Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration denied that said rumors and released their statement through PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quiplong:
“It’s too early to predict if the low pressure area (LPA) we are looking into right now will be as strong as Yolanda,” “Actually, the possibility of that LPA to be a storm is still being monitored. Also, the LPA can be dissolved and not to continue as a storm,” he said.
The Yolanda Part 2 rumors immediately spread online especially in social media. The story becomes viral in Facebook and Twitter. The hastag “#Yolanda” becomes trending topic on Twitter.
The Super Typhoon AGATON according to the rumor will hit the Philippines on January 16 and 17 making a landfall in the Visayas or Southern Luzon areas.
To further prove that this story is a hoax, watch the video report of Seph Ubalde of TV5.
The rumor was first seen in a Facebook post with the title “Super Bagyong Yolanda Part 2?” that says:
“May 1 linggo at mahigit pa tayo para makapaghanda sana naman po ay natuto na po tayo sa mga nagdaang bagyo at dahil sa CLIMATE CHANGE ay hindi na po ito magiging pangkaraniwan ulit at ito ay patuloy na lumalala pa, sa ngayon ay nagsisimula nang mamuo ang posibleng SUPERBAGYONG papangalanang ‘AGATON’ …”
