An online appeal for a 3-month-old baby’s liver transplant has been created on Facebook which gained popularity among the users of the social networking site.
The page named “Hope for Coby” is dedicated for baby Craig Jacob “Coby” Araos Castillo who was diagnosed with chronic liver failure.
Since hospitals in the Philippines do not conduct transplants on young babies, Coby’s family have to go abroad to have him a liver transplant.
“Fortunately, there are two hospitals in Singapore that can operate on young babies. Singapore is our first option. It’s nearer so it will be safer for Coby to travel and it is cheaper,” Coby’s Aunt Rachel Araos told ABS-CBN News.
As of this writing, the page “Hope for Coby” has already more than 2,000 likes. The page is now used by the family to raise funds for the transplant of the ailing baby.
According to Araos, the page was initially created “to update friends and family of Coby’s progress. However, as we are faced with a possible liver transplant abroad, friends initiated several fund-raising activities. It snowballed from there.”
Coby is confined at The Medical City in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City, Metro Manila and is undergoing supportive treatments for his condition
