The Depertment of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines announced that January 25, 2014 is the date being set for the Early Registration for SY 2014-2015.
Students in the elementary and high school levels are called to mark their calendars and take note of January 25 as the early school registration.
“Mark your calendars! Jan 25, 2014 is early registration day! Register early for SY 2014-2015,” The DepEd announced through its Twitter account.
According to DepEd, the early registration aims to help schools prepare for the coming school year and gather information to determine the number of students, sections and other school requirements.
“We want to prevent logistical problems when the new school year starts in June. If our school heads know how many students they will have ahead of time, they can better prepare classrooms and seats and learning materials,” said Education Secretary Armin Luistro.
“Our collective aim is a smooth June school opening, that is why we are preparing as early as January,” he added.
Below is the list of qualifications covered by the Early Registration:
Incoming Kindergarten and Grade 1 students aged five and six respectively
Out-of-school children and out-of-school youth from disadvantaged groups of indigenous peoples; street children aged 5 to 18; adults between 18 and 30 years old, to guarantee their enrolment in their preferred education delivery system, either through alternative delivery mode or alternative learning system
OSC and OSY with disabilities from 5 to 18 years old
